Thomas Matthew Crooks, a local youth, has been identified as the person who shot and attempted to assassinate former US President Donald Trump, who was meeting with the public for the upcoming November election.
Crooks is from Pennsylvania. Investigators believe the former president, who was addressing a crowd in Butler, was shot with an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle.
As a result of this shooting, one person in the audience was killed and two others were seriously injured.
For his peaceful neighbors, they can't understand how this cool young man could be accused of shooting Trump. US officials said that 20-year-old restaurant worker Crooks was shot and killed on the spot by the Secret Service.
The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has released a statement claiming that Cruz was "involved in an attempt to assassinate the former president and that the investigation is ongoing."
